Moving Slowly : dltphoto

Clearly I need to be whacked with the tardiness stick. My lack of interest of sitting at the computer for hours on end has resulted in an utter lack of posts. I have many images to post but since my new career change doesn't really have any bearing on photography anymore my urgency to post my strange images seems less important now. Its kind of hard to explain but I need to get back to my posting ways. All 3 of my followers are probably missing me.

So as not to rush into 100's of boring posts with images I'll start light and hopefully gain momentum and post more in depth thoughts in the future..

 Ill start with this little guy... just chilling at Green Lake covered in the weird foam created by the wind forced ripples on a sunny day. Shot with the brilliant little Olympus  TG-850. No editing needed but just a little cropping.

Some Addictions are Tough to Break :dltphoto

So I have come across my new addiction. It's kind of like when you first get that fisheye lens you always wanted. You've dreamed of all the crazy things you're going to shoot with it, then after a few weeks you realise that damn it's cool but then the cool drug wears off. Your worst fear. They love has dried up and you have lost the ability to creatively use it or that you have just about "done" everything you think you can do with it. You retire it to the shelf, it gathers dust until your next creative fisheye dream.

Well I mentioned about the Olympus Tough TG-850 I acquired, I have had the same "fisheye" experience.
I suggested I wasn't going to use it for everything, but well, I lied. It's so addictive. Especially for sky images. It's adds mustard to your hotdog, it's the rum to your coke. It's the filter for your art.

Green Lake Sunset View, Nikon 1 V1: dltphoto

This year our "sunset view" side of Green Lake was disrupted due to the unfortunate Wildfires Burning around our province. Although the fires were many miles away, the smoke blew in our direction. It didn't actually ruin my photo enjoyment though, it just made things a little more challenging and interesting.

On the other side of the fence we have Sunrises. These are often overlooked as we commonly choose to sleep through them, but interesting things are happening out there under very interesting lighting. Its good to get up early....

Sunset shots have been well documented over the years, generally viewed as a nice wide angle shot covering a great vista/ panoramic. Some sunsets aren't always that dramatic but by picking out a smaller area of the larger picture we can create our own drama. Here are a few images from our "Sunset View" campsite which usually yields some unbelievable sun downs, but this year was fairly tame by it's normal standards.

Many moons ago I acquired a wonderfully different camera to add to my Nikon collection. The Nikonos V film camera, as posted previously somewhere, sometime ago, on a blog post far, far away.
I resurrected it for some fun underwater antic's. Our kids hesitance to swim in the gorgeous green lake this year, without life jacket, was mildly frustrating. All of them now are very capable swimmers but I guess the massive lake must be a tad intimidating. Until of course I splashed out the Nikonos V and then off came the life jackets and on came the diving underwater with reckless abandon. It was quite the turnaround. I created monsters.

Working with the Nikonos is kind of odd, apparently water has some defraction non-sense that means when I focus a certain distance its actually not that distance blah blah blah... I found a technique of my own. GUESS IT.
Along with the "GUESS IT" technique, I applied the "hold the camera underwater and GUESS that they are in the shot!" technique. With the 28mm lens its fairly safe that I will get most of them in the shot as for hands and feet etc... well, that's part of the fun for me. So featured below are some of the better "GUESS IT'S" that I ended up with.

Camping 2012, Digital, Part 1: dltphoto

The first of this years camping trip was to one of our favourites, Green Lake. Since I holiday with several different cameras, perhaps about 10, i find I am able to post a few times just using some of the different camera formats. This years I have a full spread of varying digital ( compact and DSLR) and film ( manual and automatic).
  Having so many formats and being able to still use them all makes it all a little bit more fun for me, after all it is my holiday too! In this entry I will be displaying some of the digital compact versions, since I have an awful lot of images I think I will just bore you with a few!

Somewhere way up in the middle of nowhere on the road that takes your hours to get there is this wonderful little town called Barkerville, Established 150 years in a time when Gold was in them there hills....
This is an excellent place where people have restored an old Gold Rush town and have made it into a wonderful destination for  people, willing to do the drive, to mooch around and look at some of the old buildings that made up this Western style town.To make it even more enjoyable they have capped it off with people in full dress for the time period wandering around pretending to be characters from that period, really quite the photographers paradise!
Since I hadn't really read to much up on it, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I certainly didn't imagine it being as large as it was. The buildings were wonderfully rustic, not like the good old brick I am used to from good ole England. The Only thing I missed or would have liked was the occasional tumble weed to go rolling down the main street!! that would have made it priceless

Ah.... I'm Back! Sort of...

As I posted in one of my last posts I have been working on a Camera Blog for my Day Job at Lens & Shutter Camera's, I have also been promoted to the Store Manager which has not allowed me anytime to be thinking about poor DLT... anyways, its time to rectify that a little. I have just gathered up a bunch of images from this year for you guys to enjoy. I am working on new posts so please be patient!
